Prayer-One of The Five Pillars of Islam: - Prayer is one of the five basic pillars of Islam. Muslims offer five obligatory prayers in a day to thank and supplicate to Allah the Almighty for his countless blessings. Prayer is a beautiful way for a believer to communicate with his Lord. Devil is most unhappy when a believer offers prayers and he tries his best to stop him. Such is the benefit and reward of offering prayers that the forces of devil do not wish a believer to benefit from it. Prayer indeed is the key to Paradise, as affirmed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It brings success for a Muslim in this world and hereafter. Through prayer a believer can connect with his Lord and keep his heart and soul free from all sorts of vices. When a believer performs ablution he keeps himself pure and clean, not just physically but spiritually as well. There is huge reward for offering prayers. Similarly, there is severe punishment for skipping prayers. Prayer mats: - Muslims offer prayers on a prayer mat. Usually made of a pile carpet, prayer mat is used so that Muslims can easily perform the various postures of a prayer on a clean mat. Cleanliness of oneself and the place where you offer prayer is very important. So Muslims perform ablution and then offer prayers on a prayer mat. Prayer mats can be hand-woven or mass produced in factories. Prayer mats are adorned with beautiful landscapes, mosques, geometric patterns and shapes. Beautiful images of the Holy Kaaba can also be seen on prayer mats. However drawing of animate objects is strictly prohibited in Islamic religion. So you cannot possibly ever find such images on a prayer mat. The prayer mat should be spread on the floor in such a way that its top is pointing towards the holy Kaaba, which is the qibla for Muslims all over the world. Features of Prayer Mats: - Prayer mats have great symbolic reverence in Islam. They must be well taken care of. It means you should not throw them around or put in dirty place. At the top end of a prayer mat is a niche which represents a mihrab of a mosque. Islamic Gifts of Prayer Mats: - The tradition of gift giving is vehemently encouraged in Islam. It is seen as a gesture of peace and kindness. It spreads love and goodwill among the people. There is immense reward in Islam when you give gifts to your brothers and sisters. Likewise, when somebody gives you a gift, it is better if you respond him nicely with the same reciprocity. If you cannot return his gesture in the same manner, an act of kindness or even a prayer in return shall be good enough.
When Muslims visit the holy shrine of Kaaba in Mecca, they bring gifts for their beloveds when they return back home. These include Zamzam water, dates, perfume and prayer mats. It is considered as a valuable souvenir and indicates love and respect for the recipient. Islamic gift of prayer mats can also be given at several other occasions. For example when a family moves to a new house, prayer mat can be given as a gift, indicating that you wish for the family’s happiness and well being in the new house. When your child turns seven years old, small prayer mats that are used by kids can be given as gift to inculcate the habit of offering prayer among the kids. Similarly, when you send your child abroad for higher studies, a prayer mat must be given as a reminder to offer the obligatory prayers. Islamic gift of prayers mats are a great gesture of spreading love, peace and goodness among Muslim brothers and sisters. Advent of Islam: - Ever since Allah created this world, He sent his prophets and messengers from time to time for the guidance of the people. Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent to the people of Arab at a time when they were gone terribly astray. Allah chose Muhammad (PBUH) to reveal Islam to the people and bring them to enlightenment. At the age of forty years, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received first divine revelation from Allah while he was meditating in Cave of Hira. From there on, began the series of divine revelations by which Allah taught Muhammad (PBUH) the message of Islam, which he in turn taught to those who believed in him and accepted Islam. Basic beliefs of Islam: - Talking about the basic beliefs and concepts of Islam, there are six most important of them in the light of Quran and Sunnah. These are as follows. Belief in the Unity of Allah: - This is the most fundamental belief of Islam. In fact, Islam is based on the belief of Oneness of Allah. There is no room for shirk (holding someone equal with Allah) in Islam. Allah alone is the Creator, the Sustainer and the Provider of the worlds. Allah alone is the Supreme authority, the Powerful one and the One whose knowledge encompasses all that is possible and beyond. Allah has 99 unique names that describe his unique qualities and attributes. Belief in the Angels: - Another basic belief in Islam is of the existence of angels. Allah created angels to worship him and to obey his orders. Angels are Allah’s privileged beings. They are not visible to people but they are present everywhere around. Among the angels of Allah, Hazrat Gabriel (AS) has the highest rank. It was Hazrat Gabriel (AS) through whom Allah made the revelations to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Belief in the Holy Books of Allah: - Allah revealed Holy books to some of his Prophets. When the Prophets went to the people with the message of Allah they demanded proof of being a messenger from Allah. Hence Allah revealed the books as a proof of Allah’s divine message. Not only this, the books were also a source of guidance and right direction for the people. There are four holy books as per Islamic belief.
Belief in Allah’s Prophets and Messengers: - Muslims believe that Allah sent messengers and prophets from time to time for the guidance of people. Hazrat Adam (AS) was the first prophet of Allah while the finality of prophethood was marked by Muhammad (PBUH). All the prophets sent by Allah were human beings, had physical existence and lived normal lives. They did not have any attributes of God and whatever knowledge wisdom and power they had was bestowed upon them by the mercy of Allah. Belief in the Resurrection Day: - It is the fundamental belief of Islam that everything that has been brought to life shall die. And when the Day of Judgment shall occur all the people shall be brought back to life. Allah will question people regarding how they spent their lives. According to their deeds, they will be rewarded or punished. Belief in Al-Qadr: - Muslims believe in the Divine Decree which means that everything that happens is according to the will of Allah. Therefore they must be grateful to Allah if something good happens. In case of bad times, Muslims must believe that testing times are also from Allah and relieve shall also be provided by Him. Having said that, Allah has given free will to humans upon which they will be judged for their deeds and actions.
Makkah – HajjPerforming Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Islam needs every Muslim who is physically and economically able to make the trip to the blessed city of Makkah at least once in his or her life. Ihram During Hajj In order to do Umrah or Hajj, a Muslim guy or woman needs to go in Ihram. Without Ihram, one's Umrah or Hajj cannot be done. And also what is Ihram? Basically, Ihram is the honored state in which they perform the required routines to complete Hajj or Umrah. Every hajji should recognize that the ihram has to be worn before passing the Miqat (the location wherefrom ihram begins). Al-Bukhari states that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said: "one shouldn't pass the Miqat unless he/she is in the state of Ihram." (Al-Bukhari Kaaba Upon showing up in Makkah, pilgrims gather in the courtyard of the Al-Haram Masjid around the Kaaba. They after that circumambulate-- tawaf in Arabic-- or walk the Kaaba, throughout which they hope to kiss as well as touch the Black Rock-- al-Hajar al-Aswad-- ingrained in the eastern edge of the Kaaba. Safa and Marwah Safa and Marwa (Arabic: الصفا والمروة) are two tiny, encased hills beside the Kaaba within the precinct of al-Haram Masjid, between which explorers travel back and forth 7 times throughout the ritual of Sa'i. They are defined in the Quran as being amongst the signs or signs of Allah. Sa'i (Arabic: السعي) is one of the integral ceremonies of Hajj as well as Umrah as well as refers to the routine of strolling to and fro 7 times in between the two small hills of Safa as well as Marwa, situated beside the Kaaba in Mosque al-Haram. Mina Mina, 7 kilometres eastern of the Masjid Haram, Makkah is where Hajj pilgrims rest overnight on the 8th, 11th, 12th (and also some even on the 13th) of Dhul Hijjah. It has the Jamarat, the three rock columns which are pummelled by explorers as part of the rituals of Hajj. Mina is referenced in Surah Baqarah in the Quran: “And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days – there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] – there is no sin upon him – for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be gathered.” [2:203} Muzdalifah Muzdalifah stretches from the Valley of Muhassar to the hills of Ma'zamayn. It is 4 kilometres long as well as covers an area of 12.25 square kilometers. During Hajj It is waajib to do Maghrib and Isha together in Muzdalifah at Isha time. Wuqoof (remain) of Muzdalifah is likewise waajib as well as its time starts from below'h saadiq as well as ends at sunup. If one spent even a little section of their time in Muzdalifah, he/she will certainly be absolved of this responsibility. Nonetheless, it is best to remain till just before daybreak. Although stones for assailing the Jamarat may be gathered from anywhere, they are best collected from Muzdalifah. Muzdalifah is likewise called 'Jam' as it is an area where individuals collect. Eid ul-Adha Eid al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice) is a significant spiritual vacation for Muslims. Eid al-Adha occurs on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah. The Eid event starts with a special prayer in the morning, adhered to by a preaching. The style of the Eid is Abraham's instance of unconditional abandonment to God. Later or on the complying with weekend, family members or communities hold celebrations with food, games, and also presents for kids. It is advised to compromise a lamb on Eid as a re-enactment of Abraham's sacrifice. The meat of the sacrifice is divided up between one's family, relatives, as well as the poor. The black stone, also commonly referred to as the Hajr-e-Aswad carries great importance in the Islamic religion. Considered to be a stone sent from the heavens above, the black stone is a beautiful sight to witness by pilgrims who come to Makkah to perform pilgrimage. According to a Hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas, the Holy Prophet PBUH is known to have said, “The Black Stone came down from Jannah (Paradise).” The black stone can be found at the eastern corner of the Kaaba. The stone has been preserved in all its glory in Makkah, Saudi Arabia where it is the center of attraction for many Muslims who gather to get a glimpse, touch and feel of the stone. Below, we’ve outlined some interesting facts about the Hajr e Aswad and why it carries special significance in Islam. The Truth Behind the Black Color of the Hajr-E-Aswad The black as mentioned earlier is a precious stone sent from the heavens above. According to Hadith, it was a white colored stone, beautiful and dazzling in appearance. However, the stone is known to have changed into a black color due to the sins of the people who touch it. This stone also carries great value for all Muslims. A Hadith narrated by the Holy Prophet states that touching this Black Stone allows for the expiation of previous sins. How Did the Black Stone Appear On Earth? A question asked by many relates to why and how this black stone came into the earth. The answer is that it was placed during the time of the construction of the Kaaba. When Hazrat Ibrahim and his son Ismail were building the Kaaba, they fell one brick short. Hazrat Ibrahim instructed his son to go and look for a brick to fill in the gap left. Despite continuous searching, no brick could be found and Hazrat Ismail returned empty handed. To his surprise, he saw the gap filled with a stone we call the Hajr e Aswad today. This stone was delivered through the Angel Jibrail, making it further evident that it has come down from the Heavens. How Was the Hajr-E-Aswad Laid On the Kaaba by The Prophet PBUH? During the time of the Holy Prophet, intense rain caused the Kaaba to collapse and be rebuilt. When the time arose to make a decision as to who would place the Hajr e Aswad, an argument broke out amongst a group of people. Abuse and shouting could be heard. It was then suggested that whoever enters the Masjid ul Haram in the morning first, they shall decide. It was the Holy Prophet who entered and hence the decision was left upon him. Keeping equality and justice in mind, the Prophet used his wisdom and placed his robe on the floor. Then he placed the Hajr e Aswad in the center and ordered the chiefs of each family to lift the corners of the robe. The final placement of the stone was done by the Holy Prophet PBUH. Such a wonderful gesture by the Holy Prophet is a brilliant example of the simultaneous display of intelligence and equality.
